Exchange 2007 Due to the evolving support for CDO in Exchange 2007, always maintain the latest Service Pack and Update Rollup. At the time of this writing, the latest is SP2 with Update Rollup 9. Early versions of Exchange 2007 do not work with Add2Exchange. |

Exchange 2010 Due to the evolving support for CDO in Exchange 2010, always maintain the latest Service Pack and Update Rollup. At the time of this writing, the latest is Update Rollup 3. Early versions of Exchange 2010 do not work with Add2Exchange. |
Update Rollups are usually accompanied by Description of Update Rollup documentation which may contain important details on how to apply the Update Rollup. Be sure to consult the documentation prior to performing the update.
For example, in certain circumstances, the order in which you apply the Update Rollup 3 to your Exchange 2010 servers is important. See the description document for details.
Apply the appropriate updates to all of your Exchange servers. If you have a mixed Exchange 2003/2007/2010 environment, update each to their appropriate level. Then reboot all of your Exchange servers once you have updated the last server.
Service Packs are cumulative. You only need to install the latest Service Pack on your system. For example, you do not need to install SP1 in order to install SP2. SP2 includes all of the changes from SP1 already.
Update Rollups are specific to the Service Pack level and there may be more than one Update Rollup to choose from if there are multiple Service Pack levels. For example, there may be an Update Rollup 3 for SP1 and an Update Rollup 5 for SP2. Make sure you have the appropriate Update Rollup for your Service Pack.
Update Rollups are also cumulative and you do not need to install all of them, just the latest.
The best way to select the appropriate Service Pack and Update Rollup is to configure Windows Update to update all Microsoft products (on Server 2003 systems this is called Microsoft Update). Then run Windows Update to obtain the latest Service Pack and Update Rollup for Exchange. You may need to run Update more than once. You may also be required to reboot your system.
Service Packs and Update Rollups are also available as standalone downloads. Be careful to obtain the latest for your system and to match Update Rollups with the appropriate Service Pack. You can obtain them by searching Microsoft's download site at:
