Exchange 2007/2010
This section details how to create the account using Exchange Management Console, which is not part of Exchange 2003. For Exchange 2003, skip to the bottom of this topic where you see an Exchange 2003 callout similar to this one.

| 1. | Log onto the Exchange server |

| 3. | Select the Recipient Configuration list item in the left-hand pane |

| 9. | If you need to select an Organizational Unit other than the default, do so now |
| • | You may click Browse... to select the Organization Unit from a list |

| • | You may choose your own name for the account, but we recommend "zAdd2Exchange". If you use our name, you can cut and paste examples and commands from this manual. It is understandable to want to use a different name for security purposes, however. |

| 12. | Make sure the alias matches the login name |
| • | In Exchange 2007, you must select the Mailbox database, so click Browse... and do so |

| 14. | In Exchange 2010, you are asked about archive settings. Leave the archive setting blank and click Next >. |
| 17. | Open Active Directory Users and Computers |
| • | If necessary, log onto a domain controller in order to get access to Active Directory Users and Computers. |
| 18. | Find the zAdd2Exchange user |
| 20. | Select the Member Of tab |

| 21. | Add the following groups: |
| • | Administrators (not Domain Administrators, which would prevent Add2Exchange from working) |
| • | Exchange 2010: View-Only Organization Management and Public Folder Management |

| • | Exchange 2007: Exchange View-Only Administrators and Exchange Public-Folder Administrators |
| 22. | Add the zAdd2Exchange account to the local Administrators group on this server as well as all Exchange servers |

Exchange 2003
This section details how to create the account using Active Directory Users and Computers, which is what you should use if you are running Exchange 2003.

| 1. | Log onto the Exchange server |
| 2. | Open Active Directory Users and Computers from the Administrative Tools menu |

Tip
Since the Service Account CANNOT be hidden from the Global Address List, begin the name with the letter "z". This will sort Service Account name to the bottom of the address book.

| 3. | Select the Active Directory container in which you will create the Service Account. Either click the New User icon or right-click the container and select New > User. |

| 4. | Fill out the account name in the First name and User logon name fields. The names should match. Click Next >. |

| 5. | Enter the password for the Service Account. Since this account has full administrative permissions, you may wish to use a standard administrative password. You may also want to check the User cannot change password and Password never expires checkboxes. |

| 6. | Select the server and mailbox store that is in common with the majority of the accounts which have folder to synchronize. |

| 8. | In Active Directory Users and Computers, open the Service Account properties by double-clicking on the account. |

| 9. | Select the Exchange Advanced tab. This is to highlight the importance of making sure the Hide from Exchange address lists checkbox never gets checked. |
Service Account Group Memberships

| 10. | Select the Member Of tab. Add the Service Account to the following groups (and only the following groups). Note: Many administrators are tempted to add other groups to this list. Support incidents start at $149. |
| • | Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access |
| • | the Add2Exchange Security Group |
| 11. | Click OK and exit Active Directory Users and Computers. |
| 12. | Add the zAdd2Exchange account to the local Administrators group on this server as well as all Exchange servers |
