Important Configurations which do not meet the minimum requirements are not supported under the terms of the standard Software Maintenance agreement. |
All installations require Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 OR NEWER. It is highly recommended that you perform all current CRITICAL Microsoft Updates to your server, and reboot after all updates before installing Add2Exchange.

Installation Environments
Add2Exchange may be installed on an Exchange Server (recommended) or on a separate server.
If Add2Exchange is installed on a separate server, then this documentation refers to the Exchange Server and the Synchronization Server as two distinct servers. The Synchronization Server is the server on which Add2Exchange is installed, since this is the server that controls the occurrence of synchronization.
For simplicity, if Add2Exchange is installed on the same server as Exchange, then this documentation refers to that server simply as the Exchange Server, despite the fact that it also plays the role of Synchronization Server.
In cases where the scenario (same or separate server) is not clear, the term Synchronization Server may still be used and still refers to the server on which Add2Exchange is installed, whether or not that is also the Exchange Server. It is rare for the documentation to do this, however.
|
Exchange 2003 If you are installing Add2Exchange on a server other than the Exchange server itself, then install Exchange System Manager on this Synchronization Server prior to installing Add2Exchange. This will provide Add2Exchange with the necessary Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) libraries. For Exchange System Manager requirements, refer to: |
|
Exchange 2007 If you are planning to run Add2Exchange with an Exchange 2007 server, do not install the Exchange 2003 version of Exchange System Manager for CDO support. Instead download the Exchange MAPI/CDO subsystem from Microsoft at: Install it on the Synchronization Server prior to installing Add2Exchange. If this is a separate server from your Exchange Server, then you do not need to install CDO on the Exchange Server. |
Outlook
Make sure Microsoft Outlook is not installed on the Synchronization Server before installing Exchange System Manager. If Outlook is installed on your server, follow the instructions for removing it in the section Microsoft Outlook and Exchange.
Clustered Servers
Add2Exchange can be installed as a regular service on a clustered server. However, Add2Exchange is not cluster-aware and will not support clustering fail-over capability.
In such an environment, connect to an underlying physical server (eg, via Remote Desktop Connection) on which to install Add2Exchange. Do not install Add2Exchange by connecting to the virtual server.
You may install Add2Exchange on either the primary or secondary server. It is recommended that you install it on the primary server.
Configure Add2Exchange to point to the virtual server name as the Exchange Server.
Virtual Machines
It is not a recommended configuration to install Add2Exchange in a Virtual Machine environment such as VMware or Microsoft Virtual Server. However, there are no reported issues with Add2Exchange on Virtual Machines.
Terminal Servers
Add2Exchange is not supported on Terminal Servers due to performance issues as well as Microsoft Outlook conflicts.
