Add2Exchange ToolBox: Advanced Tools
Add2Exchange ToolBox has many useful tools for monitoring, modifying and optimizing the operation of Add2Exchange and was developed to provide more power forAdd2Exchange users with special configuration, move or “start over” needs. There are many helpful free tools also included in the Add2Exchange ToolBox add on.
The Add2Exchange license is sold and licensed separately from the Add2Exchange ToolBox add on tool.
Server Move
Use this utility when moving your entire installation of Add2Exchange from one server to another server. If moving or migrating your Exchange Server without deleting relationships and removing copies first, please see the Add2Exchange Recovery & Migration Manager add on tool which is sold and licensed separately from the Add2Exchange ToolBox. Note: All prerequisites for the target server must be done prior to the use of this option.
Add2Exchange Start-over
An Add2Exchange Start-over is needed to fix relationships when permissions change or after an Exchange failure or migration, a move of a user to any other server or organizational unit, or any other time the IDs of the source or destination folders change. During an Add2Exchange start-over, the Add2Exchange ToolBox removes the item replicas generated by Add2Exchange for all relationships, pauses for verification and then repopulates them again the next sync cycle. This is a user-visible option and should be scheduled accordingly and done after source folder backup.
Verbose Logging
This tool is useful for troubleshooting advanced problems with replication and should be used under the direction of DidItBetter technical support.
*The Add2Exchange ToolBox advanced tools require a license to use. To purchase a license to use the Add2Exchange ToolBox advanced tools, please contact us or buy at our online store.
Add2Exchange ToolBox: Free Tools
Add2Exchange ToolBox also includes free tools intended for monitoring and for minor configuration of Add2Exchange. These free tools include:
A tool to check the installed and running CDO Version
This tool determines if the proper version of Microsoft Collaboration Data Objects installed.
A tool to enable the service account to do a CDO Login Test
This tool determines the availability of a mailbox to the Add2Exchange Service Account. The tool is useful to diagnose logon and permissions issues with individual relationships and mailboxes.
Folder Forms Consistency Check
This tool generates a report of source and destination forms being used for each relationship pair. This tool is used to verify proper "forms publishing" in Outlook. Since Exchange requires the same form to be published in both the source and destination folders (or published in the Organizational Forms Library and set to be allowed in both folders) BEFORE REPLICATION occurs, the tool is run for all active relationships and can often explain why just a few items are not replicating from source to destination. Once turned on, Add2Exchange runs a special test cycle and generates a CSV report of which forms are being used in each relationship. The report is generated in the location specified in the Add2Exchange Event Log. See Add2Exchange Bulletins. The results show each active relationship and the forms associated with the items in the folders. Logic if the forms are in the source and not in the destination, then both the source and destination folders do not have the same forms, those items will not replicate correctly, as per the capabilities of Exchange Server.
Relationship Report
This tool makes a text file of all active relationships.
Relationship Audit Report
This tool makes a text file of all active and inactive relationships for auditing purposes.
Corrupted Items Check
This utility turns on a switch to run on the next synchronization to check all source folders for corrupted items. Corrupted items are those which are visible in Exchange but cannot be manipulated by Outlook, OWA or Add2Exchange.
Database Consistency Check
This utility turns on a switch to be run on the next synchronization. This tool generates a report on the state of the Add2Exchange SQL Database. Sometimes the system cannot delete the destination items when a relationship is deleted because, for example, the relationship was in alert. This tool identifies but does not remove residual SQL database entries from deleted relationships. Results appear in a CSV file in the location specified by the event log generated after completion of the next synchronization. See the next tool for cleanup of these entries.
Database Consistency Check and Cleanup
This utility turns on a switch to be run on the next synchronization. Similar to the prior selection, this tool is used to validate and actually clean up residual database entries from deleted relationships which were in alert at the time of deletion.
Minimize DB Memory Footprint
This tool resets the maximum memory usage of the Add2Exchange SQL Server instance. It limits SQL memory consumption to 100MB. Note: SQL makes reservations of unused system memory for buffering purposes and dynamically releases it to other applications as needed. Consult the SQL server documentation before using this option. Use caution with this setting as setting the minimum footprint may cause unnecessary swapping to disk. Only for those with fewer than 20 relationships and 4,500 items synchronized by each relationship. Add2Exchange synchronization may take longer to synchronize under this setting.
Optimize DB Memory Footprint
This tool resets the maximum allowed memory usage of the Add2Exchange SQL Server instance and limits SQL memory consumption to 2GB.
Maximize DB Memory Footprint
This tool resets the maximum allowed memory usage of the Add2Exchange SQL Server instance. Maximum memory usage is “limited” to 200GB. This is the default SQL Server configuration.
Inspector General
This extremely powerful tool is a relationship management tool used to inspect the items within a relationship. Use this tool to view the inner workings of the relationships built in Add2Exchange, replicated in Exchange and stored in the database. Useful statistics on broken Add2Exchange relationships can be gathered here to be helpful in diagnosing issues. Caution: This is an editing tool and can cause damage to your installation without proper use. Important! Please use this tool under DidItBetter.com Technical Support supervision.
Server Move (run on destination of move)
This free tool is the second part of the Server Move utility, run on the destination server of the move. This tool completes the configuration of existing relationships from the prior server to the new server Add2Exchange is to be housed on.
If you have any add on tools you would like to suggest, please send them to help@diditbetter.com.
